"You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else." – Albert Einstein
Artists often start by recreating the masters.
Singers hone their craft by singing cover versions.
Apprentices grow under the guidance of seasoned experts.
Why?
| "Master before you modify."
Because mastery is built on a foundation, not on thin air.
Yet many rush to “do something different” before they’ve learned the basics.
Either because following the proven path feels too hard.
Or because the urge to stand out overpowers the patience to prepare.
| "Learn it. Own it. Then outdo it."
Here’s the truth:
You can’t break the rules effectively until you’ve mastered them.
You can’t stand out until you know what you’re standing out from.
Learning the rules doesn’t make you ordinary — it equips you to be extraordinary.
Once you understand the fundamentals, you can tweak, customize.
And outplay everyone else.
